Director Fury called Agent May, asking for her assistance when Baron von Strucker led Hydra in an attack on Avengers Academy during the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. event. Melinda, Leo Fitz, and Jemma Simmons were en route to Avengers Academy when Hydra shot down their quinjet. They salvaged what equipment they could and joined the Academy.
